Over five decades, one travel company grew into one of Egypt's most diversified groups.
Where It Began
Our story began in 1971 with Blue Sky Tourism. It was founded on a belief that has guided the group ever since: travellers deserve warm, personal service delivered with care. Over the next three decades, Blue Sky became one of the largest tourism groups in Egypt and the wider region.
From Travel to Hospitality
In 2002 the group opened its first resort, SUNRISE Holidays Resort in Hurghada, and launched its first Nile cruises, M/S Semiramis I and II, M/S Mahrousa and M/S Nile Saray. SUNRISE Resorts & Cruises then expanded along Egypt's coastline, from Hurghada and Makadi Bay to Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam, Sahl Hasheesh, Ain Sokhna and Alexandria. In 2022 it went international with Kwanza Resort in Zanzibar.
Beyond Hospitality
As the hotels grew, so did the businesses around them. The group added diving and safari (2008), uniforms and textiles (2008), transport (2004), real estate through Madaar Developments (2015), town management through Wateera (2019) and construction through Elevate (2022). Each company took the service mindset of our hotels into a new industry.
Today
SUNRISE Group now operates 29 resorts and 7 Nile cruises, employs more than 10,000 people of 25 nationalities and has welcomed more than 5 million guests. Through Madaar Developments, it also builds residential destinations on the Red Sea, the Mediterranean and in West Cairo.
It's not just an organization, it's a dynamic and well-rounded embodiment of luxury and eminence across every facet.
